The Linden Fund Canada originated from the vision of Mr. Samuel Wright, a scholar born in Linden, who noticed the declining socio-economic situation in Guyana, especially in the Community of Linden. During a visit to Toronto in 2002, Mr. Wright shared his idea of uniting the Linden diaspora residing abroad to collaborate in revitalizing their community’s economy.
The idea involved leveraging the skills, knowledge, work procedures and economic resources accumulated by the diaspora members and channeling them towards the development of their hometown. The proposal received unanimous support, leading to the decision to establish an organization that could address the needs of the community, giving rise to the Linden Fund Canada.
Subsequent meetings were held, resulting in the formation and registration of the organization as a Non-Profit and Charitable Act of Canada in 2005. Over the years, the Linden Fund Canada has been led by various administrations, with individuals like Wainwright Richmond, Eze Duke, Oswald Mathurin, Linden Stevens, and presently, Michael Hodge, serving as chairs.
The LFC takes great pride in its role as a Charitable Organization, with its primary mission being the advancement of Social, Economic, and Educational development in the Linden Region 10 and its surrounding areas.
In a specific instance, the recipient chosen to benefit from our support was The Linden Foundation Secondary School in Amelia’s Ward. We provided them with valuable gifts, including a Photocopier, along with a comprehensive set of Culinary utensils. These resources were intended to enhance the capabilities of the Home Economics department within the School.
The joy was truly profound when, in the subsequent year, we received a letter from the School’s Principal. The letter brought the wonderful news that, with the aid of the equipment generously donated by the LFC, the School achieved first place in the National Competition.
There are so many ways to get involved with LFCanada medical donation programs. You can donate medical supplies and equipment to hospitals and clinics.
